What is a Legal Hotline?
This is the ability to reach a lawyer by email or phone to ask for guidance on a legal issue without forming an attorney client relationship. It is a free service available to CONY members in good standing.
Who is providing the Legal Hotline?
The Towne Law Firm, P.C. a law firm with its main offices located in Albany and Saratoga, New York, is providing this hotline in partnership with Campground Owners of New York.
What kind of guidance can I receive on the hotline?
You can receive guidance once annually on a variety of issues.
For example: 1) you received a demand letter in the mail – and want to know what this means; (2) you were served with a lawsuit and need to know how to respond; (3) you have a customer threatening to sue and want to know what steps to take; (4) you are trying to figure out how to get out of a contract you have with a vendor; (5) you are going to sign a new contract and need help interpreting it; (6) or even things not directly related to the business – such as guidance about what kind of estate planning you should be looking into.
How does it work?
Call or email and await a response. The attorney who answers will be able to provide guidance only. This will not create an attorney client relationship and will not be considered legal advice. It will be guidance to help you get started, such as what you should first look at, what is the timeline for a lawsuit, what concerns you should have with a contract or where you can find the information to help inform your decisions. Should you require representation to help you further with your issue, The Towne Law Firm, P.C. has put together a legal services plan at reduced rates for CONY members in good standing.
