Sleepy Hollow Lake Resort to hold park walk to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times
Campers and day visitors welcome to participate Saturday, July 18th

Akron, New York – Sleepy Hollow Lake Resort, located in Akron, New York, invites the public to participate in its second annual Park Walk to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times, scheduled for Saturday, July 18th.  Registration is only $5.00 per person, and starts at 10:00 a.m. at the camp office. The Park Walk kicks off at 11:00 a.m. Rain date is Saturday, July 25th.

The walk is about one-half mile, and will be led by park staffers. For those unable to walk, golf carts are permitted. Participants will be issued a paper balloon on which they can write a message in support of Camp Good Days, and post on the office board for the duration of the camping season. Also, special Camp Good Days kazoos will be available for purchase as part of the fundraiser. At the completion of the walk everyone will enjoy a free ice cream.

According to Nina Latello, whose family operates Sleepy Hollow Lake Resort, their first Park Walk last year raised about $500 for Camp Good Days. “This year, we hope to beat that,” says Latello. “We had walkers from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and many other out-of-state locations last year, as well as seasonal campers and locals join in. We’re hoping for that same enthusiasm this year for a great cause.”

Latello goes on to remark, “We are really excited to be able to help send children to camp. As campground owners we couldn’t imagine a life without camping. Visitors unfamiliar with us will get a chance to see what we have to offer during the course of the walk, and everyone will enjoy the benefits of outdoor exercise.”

Camp Good Days and Special Times is a New York State-based organization providing camping experiences free of charge to children with cancer. Since its inception, Camp Good Days has served more than 45,000 campers from 22 states and 29 foreign countries.
