Pittsford, New York – Nina M. Latello, operations manager for Sleepy Hollow Lake Resort in Akron, New York, has been elected to a three-year term as the Region 2 representative to the board of directors for Campground Owners of New York (CONY), a trade association for privately owned campgrounds in New York State.

Region 2 encompasses campgrounds in Erie, Genesee, and Niagara Counties, located in western New York. Ms. Latello replaces Rob Kaiser of Medina/Wildwood Lake KOA in Medina, New York, who has moved up to the position of 3rd Vice Chairperson of the CONY board.

Directors are nominated and elected to their positions by fellow members at their annual region meetings, and inducted at CONY’s Annual Exposition for the Outdoor Hospitality Industry.

Among her duties as the new Region 2 director, Ms. Latello will plan, arrange and conduct regional meetings; provide a communication link between the CONY board of directors and the Region 2 membership; encourage membership of the region to attend and support CONY functions; keep records of regional meetings and submit to the board of directors; visit member and non-member campgrounds in her region to maintain personal contact; and attend board and committee meetings.

“We’re pleased to welcome Nina Latello as a first-time representative to the CONY board of directors,” said Donald Bennett, Jr., CONY President and CEO. “Nina and her family have been involved in the outdoor hospitality industry for many years, and I’m confident she will bring a solid background and enthusiastic leadership to both the board of directors and her region.”

Ms. Latello enthuses, “I strive to and enjoy being a part of a growing industry, and I am excited that CONY has made me a part of their growing industry. Together we can make and create change, be positive influences within society and have the ability to stand as one voice to represent New York State campgrounds and travel industries.”

Ms. Latello graduated from the University of Buffalo with a BA in Political Science and History. For twelve years, since the age of 19, she has been the operations manager for Sleepy Hollow Lake Resort, a 104 acre park with campsites, cabins and trailer rentals and amenities including a petting zoo, mini golf, tennis, playground, volleyball, sandy beach, swimming, fishing and non-motorized boating. The resort, now in its 37th season, is owned by Ms. Latello’s father Tony Latello, with working involvement by her mother Tammy Latello and sister Amorita Latello.
